It’s the time of year that has students scrambling, checking planners and wondering,
“How is everything going to get done?”
It’s the snowball effect.
The snowball effect occurs every semester directly following a break and lasts until yet another break. It’s the lull in the semester when things have taken off and cognitively; professors assume that students are ready to test the knowledge that has been shoved into their brains. They also tend to think students have no life outside of the classroom. Untrue.
In order to melt the ice before it becomes a boulder, don’t procrastinate. By running ahead of the snowball there is less chance it will mow you over and you become a flopping accessory in its journey.
Extreme sport fans will tend to wait until the snowball is at their heels and then run, for the pure thrill of the game. Other students will miss the opportunity and will be mowed over by the hurling ball of snow. Those students will be seen next semester - in the same seat.

Ha ha! That's a funny post! I'm picturing students being mowed over by a giant snowball.
Great description of what we all go through. Would be nice if teachers would agree.
