Visuals...
Dale Jr.'s pit crew before the race. They were hamming it up once they realized they had drawn a crowd. They were in pretty good spirits considering they were coming off a win in Michigan.
A view from the top. The spotters were right behind us, or would be. This is prior to the green flag. The white tents were sponsor suites for the day. This view was also in the direction of the main grandstand and the hairpin turn is behind that grandstand.
Another view but in the other direction. This was the view of turn 4 and 5.
Parade laps prior to the green flag. Dale Jr. (88), Boris Said (60) and Dave Blaney (22).
More parade laps. The sound was pretty cool and the colors were just amazing. I didn't realize that they were so sharp. One other thing about the track itself. There were no security people hanging around, so everybody was pretty free to loiter the fence and come and go. Not like other places that really chain you to your seat.
I'll post again! I have a couple more about my trip.

It was definitely a great race. I knew very little going in, but came away knowing quite a bit more than I thought I'd ever retain (probably because I stayed sober lol). I ended up teaching people about NASCAR over lunch for the next 2 days. I'm doing my part to recruit some new blood in the bay area.
Right about now, I'm really missing that fun and sun. Your pictures turned out great! I hope mine turned out half as good.
These are some great posts! Riveting I tell you. I'm hooked. Can't wait to tell other people about them. Everyone asks if you had fun and I just smile and think of how excited you were at the race. ;)
