Preparation is key...

Weathermen preach and preach about being prepared.

Each spring they give you the checklist of items to take the storm shelter. A flashlight, a radio, first aid kit, blanket, water and of course batteries. Batteries will run the flashlight and the radio - they are one of the most important aspects of the severe weather kit.

Imagine the chuckle when, during a severe weather update, the audio went out on live television. There was no sound, just radar and then blank screen. There was a severe weather outbreak and the television goes blank.

How does that happen?

Moments later the weatherman reappeared with a quick apology.

"Sorry about that folks, the batteries went out of the microphone."

Really? Might want to check those before you go on air.

After all, it's all about being prepared.
