This one is a little late getting up, I have been a little preoccupied getting ready to head to Minneapolis, Minn., for the 2010 Trends in Ag conference. However, here are some pics and notes from the Price Chopper 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday.
It was another great race in the Chase. Learned a lot and wrote a lot too. Check out www.cupscene.com to read all the stories.
These fans lined the walkway to the media center with their swag to be signed. However, their favorite driver (the favorite driver of millions) didn't come up the walkway, but skated around the crowd and hopped up on the Sprint FanWalk Stage before they really even notice. One woman actually burst into tears. *sigh*
This was the shot of the infield grass as fans made their way to the grandstand seating. The race crowd was great and the day was perfect. Kansas Speedway will host the Sprint Cup Series twice in 2011. The crowd proved why this market deserves two trips.
Greg Biffle does the customary celebratory burnout after taking the checkers. Biffle's team also nabbed a $100,000 bonus for winning given by Ford. The bonus stands for the remaining seven races of the Chase. Ford called it a 'bounty' or an incentive to win. Not that the No. 16 team needed it.
The track on the way out. Coming from the press box means walking through the crossover gate. It's nice and quiet. Can't wait to get to the next race.
