Give thanks...

I absolutely love useless trivia, so I have decided to share a few facts you may not have known regarding Thanksgiving.

In 1612 lasted three days and included games. It did not, however, include women and children.
First of all, if there were no women who cleaned up the mess? There was likely some guy standing at a spit and I am guessing if there was nobody to clean up they stood around and ate with their hands - and just tore the meat off the whatever was cooking - like savages.

To allow for a longer holiday shopping season, President Franklin Roosevelt defined Thanksgiving Day to be celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November.
I wonder if this was to help stimulate the economy, or if it was the first attempt at making Christmas come after Halloween.

In the U.S. there are 37 places and townships named Plymouth and only one township named Pilgrim.
There are, however, several Plymouth Townships in the U.S. as they are commonly used as police vehicles.

Seafood and venison were most likely served at the first Thanksgiving and not turkey.
I doubt they had salads, or cheesecake either.

The number of turkeys expected to be consumed on Thanksgiving Day is 46 million, at an average weight of 16 to 17 pounds per bird.
The amount of toilet paper one household will go through is also roughly 16 to 17 pounds.

Drinking alcoholic beverages and overeating are more likely the reasons you might be falling asleep on the couch after a Thanksgiving Day meal, rather than the effects of the Trytophan amount in the turkey.
Other reasons could be the Lions game, oh, wait, they don't suck this year.

The top-five busiest airports at Thanksgiving travel are 1. Chicago O'Hare International  2. Los Angeles International 3. Logan International (Boston) 4. LaGuardia International (New York) and 5. San Francisco
Other high traffic areas include bathrooms, buffets and Interstates. After midnight high traffic areas include Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart and other fine retail stores where crazy people go hoard items that will likely be on sale at that price online.

Happy Thanksgiving!
