It may be a bad idea to squeeze two events into one week, in different parts of the vast Lonestar State. But, we did it and both events were a success. Our events focused on sorghum growers, and included a six plus hour trip to Lubbock, and then a couple flights to Corpus Christi. I did get to see some water. Sort of. It was foggy, but it does beat the pitch dark.
- In Texas this past week I...
- Ate at my first "dry" restaurant in Levelland (that's right - no booze)
- Enjoyed at two-inch thick smoked pork chop that changed my life
- Nearly lost my mind over noisy neighbors in a Lubbock hotel
- Flew United (I should get a medal for surviving this airline)
- Drove a rented Chevrolet Express van
- Got out of a ticket in Texas after being pulled over (still not sure how this happened)
- Drove over crazy high bridges
- Saw glimpses of the Gulf of Mexico
- Rode a ferry (drove the ol' van right up on it)
- Saw some dolphins
- Had some of the best seafood I've ever eaten
- Enjoyed the hospitality and atmosphere at Shorty's Bar
- Made it home in one piece
Here are some pics from our trip to Texas:
This pork chop changed our lives.
This is why I hate shipping things. They beat the heck out of our boxes.
The ferry ride to Port Aransas.
The ferry was a different experience.
If the Lou was in the Gulf. This is what it would look like.
Foggy, but still pretty cool. There were dolphins out near the lights. I didn't get a pic, they were too fast.
