About

I'm a Kansas farm kid that has been blessed with a whole slew of things I likely take for granted. Growing up in the middle of nowhere taught me how to make my own fun, work hard, and appreciate the solitude around me. I may have complained too much growing up as I worked alongside my family, but those days filled with manual labor have helped shape me into the person and professional I am today.

Degrees from Kansas State and Washburn University have led me down multiple career paths like molecular genetics research, taking care of five wonderful kids, marketing a local race track, and promoting biodiesel. I have even pounded the pavement of pit road during NASCAR races writing for CupScene.com.  I have had a desk at High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal in Dodge City as the weekly agriculture publication's marketing director. And, I am a KARL Class XII graduate and now serve on the leadership organization's board of directors as the marketing chair.

I earn a living as the public relations and marketing specialist for FreeState Electric Cooperative in Mclouth, Kansas.

I am a news junkie, social media addict, and I like binge-worthy television. I love spending time with my fr-amily (the friends I choose as my family) and I also take every opportunity to get home to the farm in North Central Kansas to run tractors, combines, and spend time with my family. I call that my tractor therapy because it's just good for the soul.

This blog is my own opinion and not tied to any of my formal positions. I do this to have fun, vent, and keep my writing skills up and creative juices flowing. If you like a post, let me know but have some tact and couth- and please don't just steal something and slap it up on your own blog. I don't do that and would appreciate if others would follow that example. If you want to borrow something, just ask.

I consider this a family-friendly blog, and on a few instances mildly colorful language will pop up - but this is a PG site. I write about what I want. I write when I want. That's the beauty of having a personal blog.
