California naming....

California Speedway makes the corporate jump. Today it announced that it will rename the facility, owned by International Speedway Corporation.

The Auto Club Speedway of Southern California will now hold a place on the NASCAR schedule. ISC will partner with Automotive Club of Southern California for 10 years and a reported $50-$75 million wrapped up the deal.

The Auto Club Speedway of Southern California will join the ranks of O'Reilly Raceway Park (Indianapolis) and Speedway Motorsport Inc. tracks Infineon Raceway and Lowe's Motor Speedway as corporate named tracks.

The motorsports media should have a hayday with the mouthful Auto Club Speedway of Southern California. My guess, it will always be, California Speedway.

They should have just called it 'Market Test of LA'.
