The cat in the hat mews again...

I realize that I am probably a few days past and a couple dollars short when it comes to commenting on this story, but I only heard of it Monday so we’ll let it slide. Jack Roush of Roush-Fenway Racing is at it again, only this time he really came out swinging.

There always seems to be an abundance of scuttlebutt surrounding the cat in the hat (Roush’s nickname). It seems to be never ending. If something hasn’t upset him, someone will. This time it seems Toyota has scratched up the wrong pole.

It’s no secret that Toyota’s Lee White and Roush-Fenway owner Jack Roush haven’t been seen around the garage swapping recipes and frolicking. These two have been at each other since the Las Vegas oil lid scandal. Nothing good has been said. The two have been friends in the past, but something has happened between the two.

The biggest issue most are having is the fact that Roush seems to be ‘whining’ again. It’s no secret that Roush has pissed and moaned since the announcement that Toyota would be joining the series. For some reason Roush doesn’t like competition. For some reason he feels threatened by Toyota.

He had this to say in the March 7 issue of ESPN the Magazine.

“We had a proprietary Roush Fenway part go missing from one of my race teams, and we recovered it from a Toyota team. I’m not going to say which team it is, but we are considering legal action, or getting NASCAR involved.”

Come on Jack, just tell us who it is. If it’s that big of a deal to you blow the horn. NASCAR fans are tired of your whining and crying about competition and fairness. Pony up big boy, everybody else plays in the sandbox just like you do. What baffles most is that Roush-Fenway has started the 2008 season strong, he has no reason to bitch.

If Jack’s accusations are true it could very well be deemed NASCAR’s version of the Formula 1 black eye that occurred mid season 2007. It wasn’t pretty and if this keeps bubbling, NASCAR will have a major issue on its hands.

Get over yourself Mr. Roush, play nice or don’t play at all.

(Thanks to sirus speedway for the quote from Roush)
