Thank you Biffle...

Greg Biffle is a very smart racecar driver. He's smart because he has the best idea for getting the cheating out of NASCAR.

"If they took the win away from these guys instead of penalizing them points and money, I'm pretty sure that you would see a lot less penalties and fines and money," said Biffle in an interview with foxsports.com.

In fact, many have the idea, just few are willing to say it. Except David Poole who spouts it off daily on his radio show "The Morning Drive" on Sirius Radio channel 128. (Sidenote: Poole has to be one of my favorties.)

The Biff is absolutely right. Taking away wins is the next logical step for getting rid of cheating. So why hasn't NASCAR done it? Here's my theory.

Controversy. It gives the NASCAR media something to write about and in turn fans eat it up. It creates a buzz, this cheating issue.

Ponder this. If NASCAR does away with cheating, then what will we talk about? Actual wins, performance on the track, which driver is with which Victoria's Secret model, that's no fun. We want scandal. We want controversy. What are a few driver/owner points worth in the grand scheme of things? How about 150K, pocket change?

Racers have been souping up cars for years, that is what made the sport what it is today. Ever heard of Smokey Yunick? (He's pictured above.) Junior Johnson? Even the king himself, have all tried to circumvent the rule book. Those guys are legends!

The point is if NASCAR really, truly wanted to put an end to cheating, they would. Until then, I'm enjoying the buzz.
