Excuse me sir, your beak is showing...

Let’s get one thing straight, I’m not a Jayhawk fan, I’m not a fan of KU at all. I’m a Kansas State degree holding wildcat. Kansas State beat Kansas. Hmm, see where I’m going here. Kansas State beat the national champions, pretty handedly and in dramatic fashion. Therefore, the rule allows residents of the state of Kansas to pull for (secretly if needed) the hawks in the title game last night. They represent the Big XII, and well, I don’t really dig Memphis. Don’t really have a reason, just don’t get a good vibe.

It’s America, I can pull for who I want. That’s the beauty of sports in this country.

Now to my point. Roy Williams, former coach of Kansas, was at the title game last night. No big deal, there were a lot of people who took in the game. The controversy…his Jayhawk beak peeking from his lapel on the CBS half-time show, then later shown in the stands with the dirty bird in all his glory, right there, ironically over his ‘heart’.

Now why this is a big deal to ESPN "First Take", baffles me. Should the big story be the last second shot, being down as many as 9, how about overtime? Absolutely, instead we’re talking about a guy who used to coach and what he chooses to wear to a game.

Back to the loyalty and who to pull for. I own North Carolina clothing and I pulled for them against Duke. Does this mean I’ll be chastised forever? No. It shouldn’t anyway.

To all the ESPN folks making a big deal about this, come on. How many times do you people jump on and off the bandwagon of whichever team has a better chance to win, or whichever pick is more ‘popular’. Hypocrites.

To all those other people out there making a mountain out of a mole hill…get over it. I don’t want to ever, ever see you pull for another team other than your allegiance. You’re only allowed one pick, per sport, ever.

Sure you can have teams you dislike. You may feel pulling for other teams is like saluting the anti-Christ. That’s okay. Sure I have teams I dislike, but I do have more than one I pull for.

Picking one team for the rest of eternity…the thought of that is well, ludicrous. As is this controversy.

You should send a link of your blog to ESPN! I'd love to see what they have to say! Hypocrites is right!
