A caller to The Morning Drive on Sirius radio said it best this morning.
"I wanted to retire and travel the circuit with my wife and hit up all the races in our RV. But thanks to the callers of your show they've helped me realize that all the races suck, all the tracks are terrible, the traffic sucks, rabid fans are going to put a bullet in my head, the drivers are weak and it's rigged," said Merlin. "I guess I should thank them. They just changed my mind and saved me a lot of money. I think I'll just follow the checkers circuit around instead."
Pete Pistone, CBS Sports and Racingone.com, replied with a chuckle and then filled Merlin in on some insider information on checkers. "No, don't do that because the checkers circuit doesn't let you bring in your own beer."
"Well, then I don't know what to follow," said Merlin.
This was all in good fun of course. Merlin, had a point. It does seem that all the callers to the show have the same opinions and they are very seldom positive. Those glass half empty fans are still going to flip on the television or turn on the radio to listen to the race.
What more do they want? I guess some folks just need to bitch...or they would explode.
It is what it is.
