Well it's Daytona this weekend. Tires are already an issue, but then again that is really no surprise.
Hopefully they'll get it fixed. They recalled an entire batch of tires when the rubber came off of the actual fabric of the tire. Yes, the actually rubber was coming off in chunks during the duels Thursday. The no. 39 and no. 88 teams both had tire issues. Apparently that line worker was sniffing the glue rather than slapping it on the tire.
Fast forward to Saturday's happy hour practice and the no.39 team blows a tire, tears off the right side of the car and collects the boss in the no. 14. Both will go to back up cars.
Goodyear didn't win a fan in driver/owner Tony Stewart who said he didn't want to be around anybody who even worked for Goodyear. Can't say I'm shocked. When you type 'anti Goodyear racing' into Google images - - Tony Stewart's picture pops up.
The 51st Great American Race, the Daytona 500 airs Sunday, February 15 on Fox beginning at 1 p.m.
