Things I’ve learned since moving to Dodge City...

About the city itself:
**English is a second language.

**There are no towns over 10,000 for at least 2 hours – in any direction.

**Everybody is friendly – or just nosy.

**Wendy’s is the fastest ‘fast food’ joint in town.

**Boot Hill is really just a bunch of old buildings – and an Applebee’s.

**Finally, there is a place with stop lights set longer than those directing traffic in Manhattan, Kan.

**The public library is open until 8 p.m. most of the week - unless it's summer and then you only have until 6 p.m.

**The Boot Hill Casino and Resort is all the rage - everyone, and I mean everyone, has asked the same question - "been out to the casino yet?"

**Doc Holliday is the most common name, other than Wyatt Earp - which is plastered on seven places around town - not including the main drag.

**EARP is not a play on the heritage, it means Emergency Accident Reporting Plan - used when it snows.

About my neighborhood:
**Trash pickup is like playing Roulette, not sure the day or time – but eventually you’ll get lucky.

**Cops bust up crime fairly quickly, because let’s face it – they weren’t doing anything else.

**Dogs bark constantly – because they too, are bored.
