Home of cheese and Laverne and Shirley.
The trip was a success if you take out the four hour delay on Wednesday, encountering an ice storm upon our return to Kansas and burning up great prime time hours to make deadline on Friday morning. Overall, not a bad trip. I enjoyed my travel companions and it was the first time I'd been to Wisconsin. I can now add it to my list of places I've been, and put it on the list of places not suitable for vacation.
Here are some pics from our adventure.
The location, however, seems to be great. Lots of little shops around the area and a few little nightclubs. I'm not sure what nightlife would be like in the hopping town of Milwaukee.
Another view of the downtown Milwaukee area. There wasn't much going on where we were. In fact we all looked at each other and asked, "where is everybody."
There were parking spots galore and it seemed as if nobody went to work on a typical Tuesday. Granted, it was nine in the morning, but you would think some form of life would be sprouting from the buildings.
Notta.
This is a river bridge that was up allowing a barge to float through. We were in the Historic Third District of the downtown area. We were told it's the "art district" and there were several spots with neat buildings, architecture with a modern vibe.
Merry Christmas from the Milwaukee airport. There was a pianist doing Christmas carols for tips on a giant Grand Piano. He wasn't singing, fortunate for us. I've been in several airports, and this one was really nice. For one it was clean and second it was spread out and easy to get around in.
We nabbed some lunch when we got word of the first delay, and the Beer Cheese Soup was amazing. Of course, the waitress left little to be desired, but you can't have it all. However, I would have at least liked a refill on water - but we can't all have what we want, can we...
Hopefully I'll get around to blogging about the rest of the trip. It's been pretty crazy upon our return back to work. I'll post when I can! Happy Holidays -
