Travel log - Nashville (round one)

We have made it to Music City!

Uncharacteristically we had no major travel snafu's on the way out. This is a big deal. Journal travel karma isn't always kind, but this time we skirted the negative karma and arrived safely. Now, once we got on the ground that was a different story.

We got in the taxi van and "Peggy" was behind the wheel. The ride wasn't bad because apparently "Peggy" is excellent at multi-tasking. There was a radio squawking, texts being answered and lanes to change. I would have taken a pic, but I didn't want "Peggy" getting the feeling he was being watched by Homeland Security.

As we pull into the hotel I realize that the Gaylord Opryland Resort is bigger than my hometown of Republic, Kan. We checked in and got a map of the facility. A freakin map! To get our room! After some slight detouring we made it to the room. At the end of the hall. Across from the vending machines, with the toilet that runs constantly. In fact, we're leaving a note for somebody to fix it. Flushing only twice a day is not going to cut it.

Our view was, well, nice. It's better than an air conditioning unit like Chicago. After a quick once over in the room we hit the resort to see what there was to see. There is an actual boat that floats along the river that's how big this place is. It resembles the outside even when you're inside. Kind of cool, but insane to get around in. We were only lost for about an hour as we hunted for a bar. Once we finally found it we realized we had only walked past it-twice. We grabbed three rounds of wind down and listened to stories of Journal years past. I was a little ticked because I couldn't find the insane Predators game that went down. I can't believe I missed only the greatest comeback ever.

We finally decided on dinner and hit up a highly recommended italian restaurant. I highly recommend you win the lottery first before going. We were very disappointed and walked out before we even ordered to find somewhere with A.) a better menu and B.) a better selection. We found just the place and I had Lobster sliders and carrot cake that was pure bliss.

Wednesday kicks off the show, so I'll updates later. On a side note, I think my good travel was linked to the day. January 31 is also my bestie's birthday. Happy 30th (yesterday) to one of the best. So glad you were surprised and even more glad you sent good travel vibes!

Wow, I wish I was rich enough to hang out in my swanky pad and sip expensive wine. . . with the price tags dangling from the candle holders. BAHAHAHA! Love it!!! What a fun day!
