I am a slight Pinterest addict. This is not only a great waste of time, it's a great way to get ideas for the meal I can't afford to cook and the wedding I'm nowhere near having. Oh, did I mention I have a dream house pinned, too? (You can follow me by clicking the button in the right sidebar).
In other words it is a website full of all my "fat chances" and speaking of fat-it's a great place to get ideas to cut the fat from eats and treats.
I've tried a few recipes and I have had some hits and misses. I'll be honest, there have been more misses, and it's not because I can't cook. It's because I take the advice of starved dieters who are desperate to cut 100 calories in hopes to lose 100 pounds-overnight.
My latest pinteresting calorie cutting disaster was red velvet cake. Here is a piece of advice. If you love a food never use Pinterest to find a lighter version. It will ruin said food forever.
I baked the cake with a Diet Dr. Pepper. This was my first mistake, but that wasn't the worst part. The cream cheese icing substitute was cheesecake pudding and light Cool Whip mixed together. First of all, cheesecake pudding tastes like feet smell. Second, there is NEVER going to be a substitute for delicious, fluffy, sweet cream cheese icing.
The cake was edible if you were a contestant on Survivor, and the frosting-well, let's just say it made the cake worse.
One of these days I will learn. It just isn't going to be this week.
