Fly over states...

I consider myself lucky to be from the middle.
Fly over states can sometimes get a wrap for being dull, boring, and full of nothingness. I am probably just a guilty for thinking I'm out here in western Kansas in the middle of nowhere.

Sometimes we just need a dose of something incredible to remind us that these fly over states are pretty amazing, and without them and the people who make up a vast majority our country we wouldn't eat, wear clothes, or be able to function in a lot of different ways.

My latest view of our fly over states reminded me that I'm pretty lucky to call myself a descendent of the "middle of nowhere" because my family provides for other families all over the world.

Throughout the month of November High Plains Journal has been sharing facts and figures about agriculture to encourage everyone to say thank you to the farmers and ranchers that provide so much.

I wanted to share a few with all of you and I encourage you to share them. I also encourage all of you to be educated consumers and help advocate for the industries that not only support many of our families, but also our communities. Talk about the food we eat. Talk about what you do on your own farms and ranches. And, most importantly remember that even though your voice may be small - it's loud enough to reach those around you.

Don't take for granted that everybody who lives in a farming community understands a farm.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. Click here to see the entire series.
