It is time for a new adventure and stepping outside of my comfort zone into a world of unknown challenges, professional and personal growth, and possibly eating bugs - or other weird stuff.
I have been accepted into the Kansas Agriculture and Rural Leadership program. This program is an intensive study leadership class that involves training and travel for 30 future leaders in agriculture, and rural communities in Kansas. The classes are diverse and span agriculture, agribusiness, and rural community leadership roles. Class XII (12) will be faced with a variety of challenges that include environmental, economic, and political.
Over the next two years I'll be part of Class XII that has the opportunity to explore leadership during seminars that are held during the months of November through February 2013 and 2014, and will conclude with an international trip in March of 2015 to a place that is still under wraps. (As soon as I know I'll probably blog about it).
Saturday, June 1 marks the day Class XII becomes official and we'll be taking part in orientation at Rolling Hills in Salina. This marks the first time the 30 member class is introduced to fellow KARL alumni, and supporters.
I am looking forward to meeting new people, as well as having new experiences that will push me professionally and personally.
I am not necessarily looking forward to the possibility of eating bugs...although it would make for a great blog!
