This week in sports...

I'm sorry...
Mike Nifong, the District Attorney who wrongfully accused three Duke Lacrosse players apologized Thursday. Are you kidding? He said he was sorry, little too late there buh-day. Nifong managed to ruin the lives of three young men in an attempt to further his own career. Hmm, wonder what his current career progress is now?

Not only in Talladega...
Apparently it’s not just a NASCAR phenomenon, chucking things onto the competition. Wednesday afternoon at the Athletics – Angels game a fan threw a half-full bottle of water at Athletics catcher Mike Piazza as he stood in the on-deck circle.

Piazza says he will press charges against the 22 year-old fan who was arrested and booked in an Anaheim detention facility on suspicion of assult and battery. Formal charges could come Thursday.

Come on Mike, lighten up. You weren’t hurt, in fact after the incident you popped a single and ended up the night 3 for 5 with a home run and true, the A’s lost, but you need to put on your big boy pants.

I understand the point of pressing charges, believe me, I’m not an advocate of throwing anything, anywhere as a fan. I just think he’s going a little overboard. Could you imagine the headline if Jeff Gordon pressed charges against everybody who chucked FULL BEER CANS at him? Its part of being an athlete, not everybody likes you. Get over it; let the stadium take care of the punk. Chances are he probably doesn’t even remember doing it because to get through that many innings of an A’s game, you’d have to have liquid help.

Your silence speaks volumes...
Curt Shilling isn’t being quiet regarding Barry Bonds and Mark McGwire's steroid controversy. The Red Sox pitcher was making an appearance on HBO’s “Costas Now” and called out the pair. “If someone wrote that stuff about me and I didn't sue their [butt] off, am I not admitting that there's some legitimacy to it?” said, Shilling.

I couldn’t agree with you more Curt. It’s no secret; I’m not in the Barry Bonds fan club. I can’t stand the pompous ass. However, when it comes time for Cooperstown voting we’ll see who gets the last laugh.

'a fan threw a half-full bottle of water' this made me giggle. I guess the fan was an optimist or the bottle would have been half-empty. The liquid help thing also makes me laugh. yay!
