It was bound to happen. You can only handle so many sneezes to the face, snot covered hands reaching for yours and coughing without covering up mouths. I have a cold, and I have about 22 little 4 and 5 year-old children to thank for it.
Kids don't understand that germs spread when they cram their finger up their nose and then either a) eat it, b) wipe it on their clothes or c) wipe it on something else. I hate this time of year working with adults...kids...I can't even explain.
So I've got a slight case of the sniffles. Like I needed a reason to be more stuffed up.
I don't really have any good stories to tell. The little people have been pretty nuts with the full moon and the weather change, but not so nuts it makes great blog material. The kindergarten class has been learning B's so we've had teddy bear picnics and colored bears to hang in the hallway in January. This week, it's R's. I'm off today and I'm glad for the little break, as much as I like hanging out all day...they were starting to suck the brain cells from my head.
The preschool class made ornaments out of pipe cleaners and foam stars. They were a lot of fun, but sometimes you just have to smile at their little creations. I wonder where kids get some of these ideas, then again I'm sure I had some pretty interesting projects brought home as well.
Also on the agenda was letters to Santa. One little boy who is about as adorable as they come - and a good kid, wanted a coyote call. We also had a conversation while coloring reindeer about the snow and how it made great deer hunting weather, if you had warm clothes. I asked him if they trapped anything and he just responded by saying, "no, we just use the truck or sometimes a gun". I figured I'd change the subject before he divulged information that would require me to testify against him in some kind of wildlife or nature court.
I'm trying to get geared up for Christmas, but it's hard to get into the Christmas spirit. I do have all the shopping done, finally. All that's left to do is wait out this mini winter storm that's blowing through. Ice is expected tonight and somebody in the house is praying for a snow day, although I think it'll blow over with little fanfare. At least I hope so.

Who takes their 5-year old hunting?? Well, unless it was one of those "unplanned" hunting trips, where you just happen to see one standing and have no choice but to pick it off before the bow-hunters have a chance to get at it. I think I was along on those impromptu hunting trips as a kid.
I'm finding it hard to get into the Christmas spirit too. I'm into the spending spirit (I finally caved and now, the expensive prices don't seem so bad. They still are, but I've got clouded judgment.) Plus, it's hard to think about Christmas, when it's not freezing or snowing. It finally got cold here. About 40's. But nothing like the 3 degrees I'm seeing for Kansas. Yikes. I'm going to freeze my butt off.
Hope you get over the sniffles soon.
