Summer Swingers…
Alex Rodriguez hits 500 and becomes the youngest player (32 years 8 days) to do so. A-rod came off a slight slump (0-22) after homer 499 came in Kansas City on July 25 and ironically he hit 500 against Royals hurler Kyle Davies in New York.
Bonds hits 755 to tie Hank Aaron. Clay Hensley became the 455 pitcher to give up a homer to Bonds. Ironically Hensley was once suspended for steroid use. Isn’t it ironic…don’t you think?
Bud Selig was in the stands, but showed no emotion as the ball soared out of the park.
Parked at Pocono…
Robby Gordon had his head stuck so far up his ass on Saturday he could see the end of the race through his neck. That’s my opinion.
Robby Gordon has been parked by NASCAR because of blatant disregard for NASCAR authority. After a melee behind Gordon and Marcos Ambrose as they battled for the lead the caution came out, however Ambrose made contact with Gordon spinning him out. That left Ambrose in position 1 and Andy Pilgrim in 2. Gordon didn’t see it that way.
NASCAR black flagged Gordon who continued to hold his position right next to Ambrose. He then let up and took the position in between Ambrose and Pilgrim. That wasn’t good for Ambrose. In true Robby Gordon fashion he booted Ambrose from the lead and took over the first position. NASCAR didn’t see it that way; because Gordon ignored the requests he was not being scored. Pilgrim took the lead for a corner but ran out of gas letting Kevin Harvick take over the lead.
Harvick came across the line technically second behind Gordon, but was credited with the win. Then things got ugly. Robby drove up next to Harvick and did double burnouts as if he were the race winner. He then parked his 55 machine next to the official’s hauler and told the media he was the race winner and he would appeal the decision by NASCAR.
Apparently NASCAR was a little upset with Gordon because they jumped series and parked him for the cup race. That rarely, if ever, happens. Let me tell you this. You REALLY have to mess up to get parked from a cup race after something you did in a Busch race. Believe me there have been several other drivers that have had tussles in the lower division and they still raced on Sunday.
I personally can’t stand Gordon and honestly I won’t miss him in Sunday’s race. However, he should come out of this with one lesson. NASCAR doesn’t need Robby as much as Robby needs NASCAR. What they say is law…period, whether you agree on the suspension or not, it's their sandbox. Play at your own risk.
PJ Jones will take over the seat for the race on Sunday.
Well off to watch the race!
