Peanut farmers should know be considered on the 'high alert' list for potential suicides. Let's face it folks, they're roasted.
As I sat enjoying toast this morning, with peanut butter, I read that I'm not supposed to eat peanut butter because it could kill me. I chewed and swallowed just like any typical day and read further down in the article. (I guess growing up as a farm kid allows for minimal fear of a little ecoli).
As I read on I realize that it's not peanut butter that will kill me, but things made with peanut butter. Well isn't that the same thing?
I guess jar peanut butter is fine, it's crackers and things made with peanut butter. Those little packs of crackers that everyone loves so much. The fast, convenient, calorie loaded yummies that school kids eat on a daily basis...toss them out. Not only will they clog your arteries but the paste in the middle is tainted with salmonella.
However, if you're a mom (or grocery buyer) that gives your kids old food you have nothing to worry about. The outbreak apparently occurred after August 8. That was nearly six months ago. It took them six months to run quality assurance tests? Someone needs to get over to the Virginia plant and review their testing protocols.
Six months! I have friends that work with meat (which is basically a mess of hanging potential bacteria) and they manage to make it safe for consumption to the tune of multiple times, DAILY.
Check your nuts...we don't want anyone getting sick.

One more side note...How about an attaboy for the pilot of the Hudson landing. Not only is he a remarkable man, but it gives us proof there are angels riding shotgun.
